A Miracle in the Mind: Relinquishing Mental Anguish

Standing in crisp suits or cruddy old jeans, souls have long suffered with mental anguish. Scan the isles in stores for wheelchairs holding weak minds. Some are obvious, but not all. Smiles merely pull shades over the windows of weeping hearts. While fear and pride keep their reality private, false teaching prevents a passage from pain to cure.

She weepeth sore in the night and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her. Lam. 1:2

Only a miracle in the mind can relinquish mental anguish. It stems in Christ where dark thoughts are diminished, and guardrails of peace are established. Whether diagnostically defined or a devil needs a door, the Word spoils all powers underlying the cause.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Col. 2:15

But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:16

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:7

Need a demonstration to decide if deliverance is possible? Join me inside a sacred place and see a tormented mind set free. We will go with a physician named Luke who most likely was very interested in such healing. Imagine the turmoil not only within the suffering mind, but surrounding the entire synagogue. Jesus didn’t allow mental anguish to cause disruption in either space. After we leave the premises, have your own discussion with the Lord. Determine if healing of the mind is possible today. His Word is quite clear. He doesn’t want anything but His presence to reside in His precious people. Doesn’t this include you, my dear friend?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2 Cor. 6:16

Now let’s find Dr. Luke and discern what the Holy Spirit speaks through his account.

Deliverance in the Synagogue

It was in a synagogue; a man sat with the disciples to hear Jesus teach. Unbeknownst to the listeners, the man possessed an unclean spirit. Maybe he blended in quite well, until hell broke the sound barrier. Bellowing out from this synagogue attendee was a spirit, determined and stubborn. This unclean devil dared to make demands upon Jesus.

And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. Lk. 4:33-34

Jesus rebuked, silenced and ordered the damaging devil to leave.  This presence, hindering the man from a wholesome life, left.

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. Lk. 4:35

Unclean spirits might startle some, but not the disciples.  Their amazement wasn’t directed upon a demon appearance, but the power the Word held.

And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves saying, What a word is this! For with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. Lk. 4:36

Unclean Spirits in our Communities

Although it appeared unclean spirits were common knowledge for the disciples, many communities are either uncomfortable with the subject or unsure they exist. Regardless, devils haven’t quit attacking the mind.  Possessing believers is impossible but mental oppression continually occurs. The better news is, Christ equips us with evicting power. This is why Holy Spirit comfort must be called upon. We don’t need to be a trained exorcist, but can command unclean spirits to leave in the name of Jesus Christ.

Comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 1 Thes. 5:14

Whether a person is possessed or oppressed, point them to Jesus who provides the curse free life.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. Gal. 3:13

Without a curse hanging on our neck, we confidently come to the throne for help.

Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb. 4:16

Don’t be shy. Ask. Become intertwined with truth and realize Heaven’s gate is open. Streaming from Heaven to earth is life and healing.  Never mind the demon world. Without a curse, devils can’t deliver disease where God’s river flows and His leaves grow! Serve God with a sound mind and rejoice. Mental anguish is relinquished to the Lamb on the throne!

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruit and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. Rev. 22:2-3

OBSERVATION

Forget the Feelings, Symptoms, Causes and Permission

Have you noticed in this event and whenever a sick person needed help, Jesus didn’t pull up a chair and ask for a list of symptoms or feelings? He never inquired how they received the illness or blamed them for getting a disease. Seeking the Father’s permission to heal wasn’t ever on His mind. What appears to be an abrupt approach was wisdom in action. Liken it to a doctor about to operate. No time to waste, Jesus put the mouth of sickness to sleep so He could perform the miracle.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Prov. 18:21

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death. Prov. 12:28

Get Out of the Way

Just as Jesus ushered certain people out of the healing room, so the words of disease must exit.  With singleness of mind, He attended to healing, not hearing all their woes. Why, isn’t this quite cold for a compassionate Lord? Not at all, sympathy and empathy are valuable, but do not serve the higher purpose.

And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entered in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. Mk. 5:40-42

 Sympathy and Empathy

What do sympathy and empathy really accomplish? Sympathy says to feel sorry for the suffering soul. Empathy offers identification with another’s thoughts or feelings. Sympathy and empathy buddy up with their pal of limited understanding. While sympathy and empathy emulate caring, the power to fix the problem is excluded. Skilled communicators assist in articulation but merely offer rocking chairs for clients to coddle their pain. But that is not all that occurs in the appointment, you beg to differ. You are right!  A treatment plan does follow, but with what effect?  Has the root cause been extracted, guaranteeing complete deliverance? Unless the agreement between the two people is based in God’s will, not humanity, the sickness is still rocked without hope.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 18:19

Counselors or physicians not based in Christ lack the deeper layer in their practice. They assist in amazing ways, but can’t exercise God’s wisdom or treat the whole person.

Born again medical staff are of a different caliber and include Christ Jesus into the care plan.  If one needs to doctor seek them out if available. Why?

The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Jer. 8:9

Sin is the rotten root beneath all sickness. It is the topic on too many lips. Instead of long dissertations on the disease process, declare what occurred on the cross. Stop the attention of sin and its sick companions which lost their rule. It’s necessary we take a trip to Mt. Calvary.  We need to look closely at the Lord. After examining the cross and His resurrection, our speech must honor the life His sacrifice provides.

To the Cross: Look What Sin Did

Sin corrupted even the very appearance of Jesus. According to Isaiah’s description, sickness and disease must have drawn havoc on his entire being. In addition to the affliction of illness, the intense beatings bruised His body even more.

As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, And his form more than the sons of men. Is. 52:14

Stop and think, from the fall of Adam and Eve, until the cross, Satan held sin’s corrupting power. After Jesus served sin’s stripes, the Holy Spirit disarmed Satan’s ability to harm God’s people. Sin, including its death fruit of sickness, was spoiled.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Col. 2:15

To fully appreciate the sacrifice that freed and secured our salvation, study the words grief and stripes.

GRIEF

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Is. 53:4

Grief in Bible Hub’s Lexical Summary states the Hebrew word for grief is choli: sickness, illness, disease.

STRIPES

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Is. 53:5

Bible Hub’s Lexical Summary states stripes in the original Hebrew language is chabburah: Wound, bruise, stripe. The word chabburah is derived from chabar which means to join, unite, bind together, ally.

We have a clear picture how the punishing stripes joined Jesus as he bore our sickness. Next, we see spiritual death and the devil are abolished. They needn’t be in our realm of concern anymore. Wake up, the Son has risen! We are no longer stuck in bondage to Satan’s world of sickness but live in the Kingdom of God’s dear Son.

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Mal. 4:2

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Heb. 2:14-15

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. Col. 1:13

Pursuit of a Cure

Can you comprehend why the cross and cleansing of sin is a priority for our pursuit of a cure? We must not ignore the spiritual aspect in our quest for physical healing. Believing in Jesus as our healer is the priority.  Exercising our authority over devils is an ongoing practice. The Spirit will change and guide us in wisdom as we become one with the Word. As we pray the Word, we fight off foes floating onto our food, lymes disease living in tics, tularemia taking flight in deer flies and COVID-19 traveling in droplets from China. Whatever caustic substance comes, the Word will strike it down. This is why we need to meditate on the Word and be in tuned with God’s voice.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Ja. 5:15

And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. Matt. 9:2

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin nor more lest a worse thing come unto thee. Jn. 5:14

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thee. Ps. 91:7

Hearing Brings Health

Healing can be diverted by ignoring God’s voice. Maybe dependence on Christ has turned a dull ear or developed short term memory. Regardless, God hasn’t changed His position as physician from the time the Israelites left Egypt. He directed all means of deliverance to Himself. If God’s children wandered from His path, they risked the consequences of the unbelieving Egyptians. Hearken to instruction and the Spirit will guide you away from harm while disclosing what your body, mind and spirit require.

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do what which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healteth thee. Ex. 15:26

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Ps. 91:10

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things whatsoever I have said unto you. Jn. 14:26

Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst. Neh. 9:20

Patience, Power and Promises

Once the Holy Ghost provides answers, resist doubt. Symptoms will strike up arguments against truth. Impatience leads to impulsivity and unprofitable ends. The golden calf was fashioned during the waiting period.

Has a nation changed its gods, Which are not gods? but My people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Jer. 2:11

Let patience have her perfect work, the ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Ja. 1:4

Patience means God will nourish you with strength until health is restored. Don’t let society paint patience into a corner of bad reputation. Love is patient. It is God’s character. When you pray for patience, you become a partaker of Christ. Patience permits you to ponder God’s marvelous power until the promise arrives. As your patience is proving its good work, watch for the reckless driver of fear speeding in your direction.

And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you. Deut. 9:16

Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Col. 1:11-12

Fear and Sickness Carpool Together

Fear and sickness seem to carpool together. Once fear shifts into gear, sickness finds a seat. This isn’t a concern for Christ filled minds. Faith in the Word dismantles their motor and prevents them from running you over. Therefore, whenever ill health tries breaking into your temple or already has, take it up with the Word. Bypass the fear factor and let faith drop sickness off at the devil’s wayside. Faith is a product of hearing God’s Word, so don’t worry about not having ample supply. God is at work whenever you nourish your mind in Scripture. Go to the watering hole often and keep drinking.  It is in the Word you will see the finger of God writing His course of care for your mental anguish or bodily illness. Would you like to conclude with one now?

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba Father. Rom. 8:14-15

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Phil. 2:13

What Would God Write on Your Treatment Plan?

Your treatment plan has been established since the beginning of time. From Old to New Testament, the plan for health has been foreshadowed and now purchased through the redemptive work of Christ Jesus. The Father has prescribed His Word for every problem you will ever face. A quick draft or thumbnail to a larger scale of promises is provided below. Personalize your plan as God reveals His promises to you.

Treatment Plan of Life for Your Mortal Flesh

1. The powers behind sickness have been spoiled.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Col. 2:15

2. Your benefits are forgiveness and health.

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who health all thy diseases. Ps. 103:3

3. No work required, health is a gift.

For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:9-10

4. Believe only.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Jn. 7:38

5. Receive life in your mortal flesh.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jeus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Rom. 8:11

6. Void of side effects. Filled with perfect fruit.

There the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruit and yielded her fruit every   month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Rev. 22:2

And ye are complete (to make full) in Him, who is the head of all rule and authority. Col. 2:10 (Emphasis, mine)

7. Bonus! No bill issued.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Rom. 6:18

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. Prov. 8:19

8. All healing granted because of love. Welcome to God’s inheritance.

But after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
